Soaring Spirits
In June of 2004, Delafield artist Charles Dix presented Christ the King with his painting,

Exhibiting and winning awards regionally and nationally, his works are found in many private collections as well as those of universities, libraries and museums.
Soaring Spirits, in memory of his parents Leslie and Bernice Dix.

Mr. Dix was a member of the first confirmation class in 1953 of the Delafield Lutheran Church (later renamed Christ the King). Working first in watercolors, he pioneered in metallic-bronze landscapes, and more recently has been showing cloudlike abstractions using repeated washes of acrylic on canvas. Soaring Spirits is of the latter type.

Former Pastors

PASTOR DEANE A. PETERSON

Senior Pastor from March 1982 through October 2007

During the 25 years of shared ministry with the faithful members of CTK, both past and present, the good Lord blessed our congregation beyond measure with leadership, gifts and highlights that will be long remembered in our history.

The "Lift Our Burden" financial  program that accomplished the goal of paying off the mortgage of the present church building, was a sacrifice made by all the members. The always "fun"  fund raiser of the women of the church, THE ANNUAL PLANT SALE, was always a success.  Many hands made the task easier, and the rewards were greatly appreciated.

During this time with strong and dedicated lay leadership, the youth from 4th grade through high school enjoyed and experienced a church that cared, loved, and shared a faith that met their needs.  At the time there also was a unique confirmation program of group and individual learning, bible camp, and retreat activities.

We had the opportunity to share in the learning process of an internship ministry with the now Rev. Molly Doreza.  This was followed by a 15 year association with our Assistant Pastor Dave Peters.  Pastor Dave brought a love for the church which enhanced every aspect of our life and work together, especially our worship and youth ministry, our fellowship and education events.

Two great celebrations were the 50th anniversary of Christ The King and the completion of the Educational building and the Great Hall.  This building was a much needed addition to our ministry program and our wonderful relationship with All God's Children pre-school.  God, indeed, blessed all of us during these years.

Associate Pastor: David W. Peters. To contact him, you may e-mail him at petersdave@aol.com

Honoring Pastor Dave was easy! Saying goodbye to him was much harder. As Pastor Dave Peters sets out on a different pilgrimage, we are overflowing with prayers, love, and gratitude for all he has done for this congregation. As evident by the events on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27, Pastor Dave will be missed by many members — not just the long-standing members of the congregation, but by the youth, children, and young adults. More than 490 people packed the upper and lower sanctuary Sunday to bid farewell to Pastor Dave. The service honored his ministry at the same time relinquishing him from pastoral servicing and duties at Christ the King. Nearly 60 kids met with him on Saturday evening to send him off with gifts, hugs, tears, and promises to meet up with him in the near future – wherever that may be.

Following the service, several members were asked to say a few words in between the sounds of the children’s choir singing Pastor Dave’s favorite song This Little Light of Mine.  With the help of Vicky Brain (one of Pastor Dave’s many volunteers), the youth group acted out the many trips and events that Pastor Dave tirelessly put together for their benefit, acknowledging the infinite detail work and behind the scene duties he has carried out over the past 15 years.

We will all miss Pastor Dave’s sincere and inspiring messages and stories of God’s Love. He tended this flock with real feelings and a selfless love for all its members.

To you Pastor Dave, we cannot express how blessed we have been to be served by God’s faithful servant. Go in God’s peace! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE!!!
