CTK Youth Program
Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

1 Timothy 4:12

The Youth Team structure of Christ the King is established and maintained in harmony with the other areas of ministry originating in our congregation.

We understand worship to be the primary focus of our congregation as a whole. Education is the second thrust of the congregation's efforts and energies. The needs of our young people are met in those areas through the experiences offered through Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, confrmation, and regularly scheduled worship services. Worship and education, therefore, are not eliminated from the flinctions organized by the Leagues, but neither are they the primary focus of the groups.

The Youth and Family Ministry Team offer additional nurture and support to the young people of this congregation and community by regularly attempting to draw our youth together for fellowship opportunities. In addition, service projects may be organized to benefit membees of the parish, the surrounding area' or other people who would be helped from our assistance offered in Jesus' name.

Parents
Parental Involvement

Adults volunteers are always needed to help lead, guide and support our ministry with young people for an event, a season, or a longer specified time. One of our pastors works with the youth committee of the Church Council to co-ordinate our vibrant programs. A listing of our adult helpers includes:

Church Council Youth Chair Elementary Team Lead
H. S. Team Lead Drivers
Jr. High Team Lead Event Hosts
Youth Treasurer Retreat/Trip Chaperones
Fund-Raising Assistants

Parental Rights, Waivers; Permissions

We want to exercise the most caution and care while entrusted with the supervision of member, friend and community young people. Individual parents and/or legal guardians hold the ultimate authority for the involvements of their child(ren) in the sponsored youth programs and activities of Christ the King. Where only one parent of a two parent household is a member of the parish, there is no authority distinction made between member and non-member.

Because we take our custodial role most seriously, we do not ask parents to sign a hold harmless release. The League and the congregation believe parents should be liable when thoughtless, reckless or immoral behavior leads to any accidents or injuries.

In bringing their child(ren) to parish-led functions and/or allowing them to participate, we believe that parents are entrusting the parish and League leadership with the authority to direct, transport, monitor and discipline any child as best advances the good of the individuals involved as well as the good of the group or congregation as a whole.

Parents of youth participating in on-site or off-site You theague functions will be expected to complete a medical information and authorization form Annual updating of the form's information will be done each fall. These forms, which carry specific expiration stipulations, will be considered sufficient permission to help carry out the emergency medical and welfare needs of a child when a parent or guardian is absent Any child may be denied participation privileges if a current authorization is not on file. These forms must be accessible each time a youth function takes place.

Note - Youth forms are to be issued and updated as part of the orientation for confirmation. 9th grade forms should be filled out at a fall welcome/orientation for youth and families. 10th - 12th grade forms will be updated through the church mailbox system. A picture of each student should be attached to the form.
