It is time to start planning the the 2011 Summer youth trip.
This year is our Adventure Year and we are planning to head back to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and Camp Vermillion. This is a wonderful trip that CTK took 3 years ago. This trip will provide you several things:
- Challenges (A week with out a cell phone, mosquitoes, making your own meals, etc...), All things are possible with God
- Witnessing God's creation (Stars so bright, Bald eagles flying overhead, Blue Crystal Clear water)
- Self confidence (You will be surprised what you are capable of) Teamwork (We all rely on each other)
Here is a excerpt from Camp Vermillion's Website:
Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry does more than just providing gear for your adventure. Our staff are trained to lead your youth group, college ministry team, adult fellowship group, or family into the wilderness to discover natures wonders and relate the entire experience to your faith life. Daily Bible studies enhance and enrich your journey.
For more than 40 years, groups from all over the country have voyaged to the Northwoods of Minnesota to explore the power and splendor of the BWCAW with the guidance of Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry staff. So now it’s your turn! We would like to invite you to join us in an adventure-based canoe trip involving challenge, trust, risk, sharing and exploring the unknown. Here is a link to Camp Vermillion's Website that explains more about the trips. http://canoe.vlmcamps.org
This trip is open to all youth entering their Freshman year this fall through Seniors graduating this spring.
The First step in planning this trip is to see who is interested in going. If you are interested, please let Rich Quinlan rquinlan@wi.rr.com , Laura Melbye hmelbye@wi.rr.com or June Rojahn jfrojahn@gmail.com know. A simple email is all that is required. There are limits to the size of groups in the BWCA, so please let us know early.
The Second step is to come to a planning meeting Thurs, Feb 24th at 7:00 at church in the Youth Area Downstairs.
At this meeting we will answer questions and plan a date for the trip.
The trip is August 6 - 12 and will be approximately $300.
Parents, Please let your kids know about this opportunity.
P.S. The ELCA Youth Gathering will be in New Orleans, Louisiana July 18-22, 2012 Mark your calendars
